[Having woken up by his lonesome in the middle of the forest, Birdy has taken to the skies to try finding his missing comrades from above. When that proves fruitless, he touches down in the village proper in order to interrogate a resident.

That resident may very well be your character, and they will be greeted with a rather brusque:]

[Later, after having learned the basics of Luceti from someone, he'll fumble around with the journal.]

Is this thing on? Shout, Shirobon -- you guys out there? Bongo? Gangu? ...Professor?

[And while waiting for replies, he'll be flipping back through the more recent entries to see what else he can find out about his current predicament.]

[Norma takes her journal, seeming a bit relieved and happy to see it, oddly enough. It's got a few of her private things in there, after all. And already she's paging through it to make sure nothing's been tampered with or torn out or something. No offense, but she's just got to make sure.]

Birdy? [How original... Norma likes her nickname better, sorry, and will continue to use it in reference to her new friend.] Right. Anyway, you want anything? I'm still on duty so I can't linger here too long, but I sure as heck can whip you up something nice. What'll ya have?

[Norma's been working in the bar long enough - and read enough book on bartending - to know what Birdy's choice of drink is, though she's not quite sure they have any in stock. The asian stuff's not exactly in high demand, though they do have various sake (albeit smallish bottles) around somewhere but the selections always been small...]

Uh...I'll check to see what we've got, just a sec. Is sake okay if I can find what you want? I can bring out a few bottles and you can pick your favorite. Juuust a sec!

[Norma exits back to the stock room and, in a few minutes' time, she returns with a platter of four bottles, some with actual Japanese characters on the label and some with readable characters.]

I haven't any idea who you're talking about. Anyone from your world most likely isn't here. No, they're called the Malnosso, if you really want to know. [He likes to think of them as 'dead', when he gets his hands on them.]

Yes, it's right around the corner actually. I haven't been through a winter here, so I don't know how cold it gets. Housing is free anyway, so don't worry so much about that. And go ahead and destroy all the walls you like- they regenerate anyway. [Hey, some people around here liked to do that. Best to let him know.]

[Birdy scans the selection, deciding on one of the bottles with actual Japanese characters on the label.]

[He probably shouldn't be drinking when there's some serious stuff he needs to get done, but at this point he does need to rest and regain his bearings. Tomorrow's another day and it's coming in a couple of hours, at which point he can decide what action to take.]

[He needs information and he needs it now, but this guy is starting to get on his nerves. Best to find someone else.

So Birdy spreads his wings again and takes off into the sky, with nary a farewell.]

But okay, winter. The winters he'd weathered in the wild back on his home planet were mild compared to Jetters Planet, and there was no indication yet that winter in Luceti would be as mild. It would be best to find shelter.]

[With a nod of the head, Norma picks up the bottle he selected and slides his glass over. With delicacy, she pours out the drink into his glass and hands it over in front of him. He is still a customer and has to be treated respectfully, even if he is kind of an acquaintance at this point, too.]

Mmmmmhm... Lemme know how it is. I haven't tried a lotta the stuff around here, to be perfectly honest. Most of it isn't to my tastes, y'know? I can't stand the hard stuff that's got no flavor. [She's more a mixed drink kinda gal.]

[NOT ANYMORE. Still with a smile that could scare away tigers, Norma laughs a hollow laugh and shakes her head.]

Don't you wanna show me how big and buff you are? For that, you need [She plucks a bottle off a tray being carried by another server. Still with her smile, Norma smacks the bottle down hard on the table.] is this~!
